The Conclusion of the matter - Victory!

Today, April 11, brings an official close to the 2013 Mission Trips. Everyone is home safe and sound, and back in school today. We had wonderful re-union today at lunch time, our Swiss and Hungarian Teams rolling out of bed to enjoy the luncheon with the NYC and Candia Teams. We began to briefly share some of the many experiences of our trips. Friday's Chapel service, and the 4/19 Agape Lunch are dedicated to celebrating, and declaring the work of God in our lives.

So, what is the conclusion of the matter? It is profound growth and development as Christians for all travellers! We praise God for this opportunity to serve Him by serving others. We praise God for the many new insights into His world that we can now see. We praise God for the many new friends we have made all over the world. We praise God for the many Divine Appoints He made for us on our journey. And we thank the many sponsors who made this all possible.

Geneva Excursion

Today we had a great deal of fun touring Geneva. The first thing we did when we arrived was wander around a bit while souvenir shopping. The first attraction we saw was a jet stream of water that was ever spraying water high into the air (which, according to Kellie is the largest jet stream in the world). I think most of us wanted to put our hands on the stream of water, but there was a fence blocking us from doing so (probably because our hands would likely be ripped off by the force of the jet stream). After this we went to another cathedral and we all climbed up the tower. It was fun because I lost my way several times, and because of this I ended up doing quite a bit of exploring. Next, we split up; Mr. Kelley went to the reformation museum, Ethan and Will went off on some
adventure, Angie and Mrs. Pham went elsewhere and I know not what they did, and Miss Wilderman, Kellie, Mr. Epperson and I went to the park of the reformers. After a brief time at the park, as well as frolicking at the playground, Miss Wilderman and I went off to visit a RUSSIAN Orthodox Church with gold colored onion domes. When we walked in the door of the RUSSIAN Orthodox Church (w/ gold colored onion domes), I was delighted to hear the people in the RUSSIAN Orthodox Church (w/ gold colored onion domes) speaking RUSSIAN. This was the highlight of my day.
I'm not exited to come back, I like Don Camillo better than JRHS, and though I'll be happy to see all my friends and family, I don't really miss them (except Luke and Mrs. Nagel). I might 'get lost' at the airport.

Today we toured Geneva.  We love you Luke but you need to communicate with us your lack of response to our heartfelt plea for the electrifying spark of our eternal love has deeply wounded us. On the bright side food is good, but God is the most gooderly. Now that we have conveyed what we needed to say... actually Mr. Epperson just accomplished something truly amazing. His belt decided to rebel on an extreme level and snagged the ornament on the bottom of his chair causing a "12 car pileup" in the middle of the lounge area. upon which kellie attempted to remedy the situation by "pouncing" upon the pile up (this as all just happened in real time). speaking of kellie she has just refused to write to her friends ( Julia and Kristyna) as she is "setting her standards much higher than those lowly blondes." we however would like to say hello and that we love you even if kellie does not.
With an over abundance of love <3
Will and Ethan

Tomorrow we head out early to travel home.  The people of Don Camillo have shared that they are very thankful for the work we accomplished. For now we say good-bye and will see you all soon.

Hungary Day 8

We have had another glorious day in Hungary, our last day with our new friends. It has been such an important time for each traveller, it has shaped our lives, and shown us many new things about ourselves, our Lord, and the cause of Christ around the world. Before we departed for Hungary, we prayed about the trip, asking the Lord that as we serve, we would be served, as we bless, that we would be blessed, and as we give, we would be given to. Now at the end of our trip, we can see that God has answered our prayers beyond our expectations. We have received so much! A highlight today was our "Goodbye Party" after lunch today. Pastor Zsolt led the sharing, giving thanks for our time in Bodrog. We then gave our love and thanks to our wonderful hosts who have such a rich and faith-filled mission here. We have so enjoyed learning their stories, and how they have been so faithful to God's call upon their lives to be place of refuge and Christian education for their children. Upon closing, we were given wonderful hand-sewn keepsakes of the school here.

We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. We continually remember before our God and Father your work, produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 1: 2-3.
Verse shared by Pastor Zsolt to the Christians of Candia NH and Bodrog Hungary, April 9, 2013

Hungary Day 7

Tonight Bill (Lib) and Jeff (biscuits and gravy) are the Bodrog Bloggers.  Hold onto your seats as we blast off.  Today we started out with a nice breakfast then off to  Bible devotion lead by  Granny Davison.  Then came mudding/plastering for the Big Boys (except for Mr Spackle Philbrick who keeps bragging how good he is but never shows up to work) in the attic space being prepared for storage while the JRHS students and faculty organized plays, taught English and played games.  After lunch (pasta with bacon, sour cream and a sprinkle of confectionary sugar -- an interesting combination) we had the priviledge of experiencing a violin and flute duets and solos by some of the Bodrog school students -- very impressive.  Later in the afternoon we were forced to go to another spa.  Then back to Bodrog for supper (venison - courtesy of an encounter with a school bus) at our host family with a time of sharing our Christian journeys afterward.  Our host family have an inspiring testimony of following God's call -- how they got to Bodrog and the awesome work they do here.
Hard to believe we have only one more day. All of us have been blessed with our journey and it will be hard to leave. New friends were made that will last a long time. The story and work of Bodrog is amazing.

The team will vote tommorow if we will take Bricker(Silas) home with us or leave him. We will use his ticket cost for a first class upgrade for the older adults. LOL

Windows, Windows, and more Windows...
(starring a commercial break to celebrate Mr. Kelley's birthday)

Hungarians, we would have starting walking towards you this morning, but it began to drizzle rain, and  we really wanted to finish up our window project.  We successfully sanded and primed the first two floors of the Don Camillo Guest House - about 20 sets of windows!  Guess we'll have to just meet in Boston and catch up on the flight-line ride back to Candia - we miss you too!

Katharina made Mr. Kelley a genuine Swiss Birthday cake! We celebrated his birthday during our afternoon snack.  It was like an accelerated Danish with a cream toping.  There was not a crumb remaining!

A glorious evening surprise on our way to devotions.  The clouds cleared for the first time providing us with a glimpse of the ALPS!!!! Miss W ran inside to gather the troops almost like she found the tomb empty - except she saw mountains. We jumped for joy and shouted as we beheld the mountains they really do exist! As Isaiah spake in the days of old Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God Almighty, the Earth is filled with his glory!

Our evening ended with a celebration of the Lord's Supper with the Don Camillo Community.  Christ's love supersedes all languages and although not in our native language we were all able to reflect on the cross.  Words are hard to express the experience.

Apparently this is what happens when you paint for too long!

Happy Birthday Mr. Kelley!

Church at Don Camillo Center and afternoon in Neuchatel
Today began with a beautiful church service with the Don Camillo Community.  They were very nice to us by singing and preaching in English.  Pastor Heiner illustrated his sermon based on the healing of the deaf and mute man found in Mark Chapter 7.

After a time of fellowship and lunch we headed out for an afternoon in the city of Neuchatel - the buildings in the old town are made of a yellow sandstone making them look like they are carved out of butter!

Here are some reflections from Swiss Travelers:

Privet (informal hello in Russian) to all you Magyars, New Yorkers, and everyone on the home front! I have had a glorious day today; first I attended a very powerful Church service in which the preacher, Herr Heiner Schubert demonstrated a story about a deaf boy in the book of Mark through many skillful drawings; every one of us was amazed at his skill in cartoon drawing. After the service, we ate lunch and swiftly strolled to the train station to meet our train to Neuchatel on time. When we arrived at Neuchatel, we tossed and kicked around a tennis ball while Miss Wilderman (and Mr. Kelley?) booked us flight tickets for Wednesday. While we played with the tennis ball, some very interesting things happened: on several occasions I almost hit someone with the ball; the other notable thing that occurred was when the ball rolled over to feet of several teenagers who were waiting. The four boys joined our fun for a little bit until it was time for us to leave. As we left, I overheard in their conversation, the word Kitaj (kee-TI), which means China in Russian; for a moment I listened to what they were saying, and though I could make non of it out, their accents give me strong confidence that they either Russian, Ukrainian, or Belorussian. After a short time touring an old Church and walking along a castle wall, we split into small groups and went our separate ways; the whole of this time I was with Angelina. The two of us had a wonderful stroll about the city, seeing many cool things including a large gold colored figure of Buddha, and a blue minicooper with a British flag painted on top. At one point, we stopped for coffee at a small café, and stayed there for a while before continuing our Neuchâtel adventure. My favorite part of the day was my adventure with Angie.

, Aniyeong, Hi, Howdy, pick or choose your greeting, doesn't matter to me. Choose one that I didn't even write, if you'd like :b today was eventful, indeed. We were able to attend the Don Camillo Community's church service, and I was delightfully surprised that it was English. Miss Wilderman prepared us for it to be in Swiss- German. She must have known it'd be in English- what a trickster, Miss Wilderman. Afterwards, we were able to talk to the people here, which I really enjoyed for I liked getting to know them a little better. We always begin our day RUSHING to the train station, in fear we'll miss it. We haven't so far, and knock on wood, we don't. Our adventure brought us to the old town of Neuchatel. Since it was Sunday, the shops were closed, but the town was historical, and the architecture of the buildings were a lovely thing to see. The town of Neuchatel had their buildings constructed out limestone, and the town also had the largest lake in Switzerland! We took a tiny, tiny, tiny hike up to the top of the town to see the church of Neuchatel. Bummer, that we only had to hike one set up stairs :b Later,  I strolled the town with Connor, and our time together consisted of enjoying coffee outside of a café and taking pictures with Buddha (taking note that he was very jolly looking, and very well-fed ^.^). I can't really get myself to believe that it's already been seven days...

Sup peeps. Today has been swell we were blessed with a stellar artistic rendering of the healing of a deaf child in the gospel of Mark. This Bible reference, of course reminded me of one of my very best friends in the entire world... I love you Luke and you not being here witch me renders my very being to shreds and keeps me awake through all hours of the night with such a hopeless ache in my spirit that I long for the rising of the sun and the distracting toil which comes with it </3. Anyway Will and I have been spending any and all of our free time having a lot of fun running around, jumping on things, and doing all of the other things that usually occupy our lunch hours at school and the work and the touring have also been loads of fun.  (Will)  Hey y'all.  Along with the lovely touring and beautiful landscape, Switzerland and it's people offer a lot of cleanliness and glow with hospitality; especially here at the Don Camillo Center.  It's going well here and I pray so for everybody else.  (To Luke) I do also miss you too, although it may not mean as much.  Ethan and I are surviving with a healthy variety of tree climbing and while touring; jumping over things.  Bye...
;) Dueces, Py (Ethan) and Will

Dear Ye,
One of my recreational goals was to buy a cup of Swiss Mocha (and drink it).  Lamentably, discovered that such a thing doesn't exist!  It really isn't a beverage they drink or make here.  On a far different note, I read something truly inspiring.  Here at Don Camillo, there is a library filled with books that God could use to help guests here grow in their faith.  I read some of a biography of C.H. Spurgeon, and learned that he became a minister at the age of...seventeen!!  Lord, how marvelous You are at raising up young saints for Your mission.  May You continue the great work You've started in the hearts of these JRHS students.  In Christ's name, amen.

Hungary Day 6

Hello friends and family in America, Hungary, and Switzerland! Today we took part in the service at The Lord is Good Baptist Church. We played instruments and sang songs during worship and our very own headmaster, Mr. Philbrick, shared a wonderful message with the congregation. He preached on the unity of Bodrog and Jesse Remington and the amazing opportunity that we have as a body of believers. It was a very well recieved message and there was also a time of sharing afterwards which everyone participated in. After church, Anti and his wife and daughter prepared us a lovely lunch and we then left for Nikla, a gypsy ministry. While there, some played soccer with the older kids while others played games inside with the little kids. Anna, Luke, and Rachel shared testimonies and verses and there was a time of worship in which Luke played the bongos and Anna played violin. This was a wonderful opportunity to experience another unique people group and allowed us to recognize our many blessings. The language barrier was a bit difficult to overcome, but we managed to communicate through our wonderful translators. We had dinner with Pastor Zsolt and his family followed by a wonderful time of sharing and laughter. Anita, Zsolt's wife, shared with us the faith they had in their journey to Bodrog and making a family, which included 13 children (many of them were fostered). Back to teaching in the morning for all of us (minus Biscuits and Gravy and Llib) and we are going to another spa in the afternoon for a couple of hours! Overall, the trip has been so marvelous that we don't want to leave. (In other words, see you next year! :)

So Swissies, we were thinking about the distance between us.... only an hour plane ride... only a two hour train ride... only about a five hour bus ride... about one day of walking. So if you guys start walking southeast, we will walk northwest and meet up with you somewhere in the middle at about 7 in the morning. Breakfast is on you! :P Miss you guys and we can't wait to see you wednesday night at the airport. <3

Hungary Day 5

Today has been special, but I will leave that story for someone else.  Tonight Dezsö reminded me that it is all about God, His will not mine. -Nelle (Ellen)

We had a wonderful full day of touring today. It all started at the new Medieval Village that was full of adventure.Well, it maybe wasnát as good as our Faire last fall, but, maybe close' And you know, a hard working group like us has to have a robust Medieval meal, followed by a few hours at the spa! And one more thing --- hey Swissies, how yaáll doing! We are more cool! Jeff,   King of Smutzie!

You might have seen from previous posts that we have been referring to each other by a couple of nicknames, but we should probably explain this phenomenon a bit more. :D Mr. DiBona has affectionately dubbed each member of this trip with a nickname, and some of them are pretty crazy. For example, Bill has become "Llib," Mrs. Davison is "Nelle," Mr. Pryor is "Biscuits and Gravy," Luke is Ro (for Pyro), I (Rachel) am Rolando, Silas is "Brickers," Julia is "the Insect," Kristyna is "Sweets," Maddie is "Harry Styles," Anna is "Moo Face," and our beloved Mr. Philbrick is "Smutzie King." We have gotten used to being called these nicknames, and will respond to them more often than not. Peace, Rachel :)

Hi! We had an amazing day. Started out by touring a Medieval Village - my hand was bit very viciously by the donkey and being slobbered on by a cow brought on a wave of nostalgia of home *sigh* We saw four soldiers jousting and do other activities like that. After leaving there, we went to the spa! Tonight we got together at Dezsö house he told us many wonderful stories about his family. Okay I'm getting kicked off now so Hi to all you Swissy's and New Yorkers - miss you all! Anna

Hey All,
So yeah, today was really fun. I got to see some awesome horses today at the midieval village, so that pretty much made my day. The baths were really nice, and not nearly as mortifying as Í feared. I'm wiped, so I'm going to sign off for now. -the Insect

Seeing how I wrote yesterdays post, mine will be brief tonight. Today we experienced wonderful fellowship with the Selmeczi family and Madarasz family while at the Medieval village and baths. It was a really good time and there were delicious pastries. Love, Harry Styles (Maddie)

Helloooo all. I am having a swell time in Hungary, and extremely missing the other to my name, Py (you know him as Ethan). We had an amazing day today, as you have probably read, and as fun as the days events were, the evening was greater still. Everyone had dinner with Dezsö's family, and stories were shared and food was eaten. Peace, Ro

Hello we are all having a grand time in Hungary! We had an awesome time in the Medieval village and a very warm time in the hot spas!  We (luke and silas) had a very good dinner at Dezsö's home -Silas (Bricker)

Being in Hungary has been so amazing so far. The Medieval village today was so much fun. We got to see farm animals, jousting knights, and we ate a lot of pastries! The spas today were a nice way to relax. I even did some Synchro moves for Nellie. Switzerland group, we hope you are all doing well! Cant wait to hear all about the work God is doing through you. Thank you for all of your prayers! ByeBye, Lots of love! Sweets (Kristyna)
