Hungary Day 3

Hello Everyone! This is Hungary reporting in,end of our Thursday. Today we taught again in the school, and then enjoyed a few hours in Kaposvar, a lovely local city. The main quest was coffee, pastries and chocolate. Well, mission accomplished. In the evening, we enjoyed a meal and fellowship with Oti and Laci, missionaries at the Church, also, Nimrod's parents. Here are some reflections from us:

My favorite experience from the trip so far was having one of my host family members, Attila, teach Silas and I how to play the hungarian version of Settles of Catan (a board game). Attila does not speak much english, and after 45 minutes of hand signaling and short explainations, we played an actual game. Fun time! :) ~ Luke

Yesterday, we were able to go to the church service with the people of Bodrog, which was wonderful. We were able to join several Hungarian musicians to lead worship---during the service, we sang in English while they sang in Hungarian. The passage was from 1 Peter, and I really liked how the congregation read aloud, person by person. :) ~Rachel

Today in the seventh grade we were able to teach the story of Joseph and this was a very rewarding experience.  Luke and Rachel acted out the story whilsts Anna narrated the story. ~Silas

Today, Julia, Kristyna, Mrs. Davison and I had an amazing experience with the kindergarteners. Although they spoke no English, we were able to teach them duck duck goose and the experience was very reqarding. It was also a blessing to hear Oti & Laci's testimony and Gods calling for their lives to come to Bodrog. ~Maddie

Today in the fourth grade english class that Julia, Maddie, Mrs, Davison, and I taught we were very impressed with the way that the children recieved the information that we shared with them. The other day we had taught them shapes and colors and today we reviewed what they had learned. they knew their shapes very well. It is amazing to work with these children, they are so insightful and very willing to learn. We have learned so much from them, and our relationships are becoming closer and closer every day.
~Kristyna

I am just praising God for this trip, for the beauties of Hungary, for the fantasticness of the students. I am grateful to God for the experience! - Ellen

Bodrod is a special place for JRHS, now our second time here? God is knitting together a great story here, and we - 2011 and 2013 Teams - are part of this story. It is privilege to live and minister with these Christians, even for a short time. And it is a great responsibility and honor that one of their children came to America to JRHS. God's plan is so amazing! - Jeff

This whole experience has been amazing. These people have so much love, it is evident that God is working in this place. Working with the kids has been such fun, and we are definitely learning as much from them as they are learning from us. Working with the second grade class in Bible yesterday was especially wonderful. We are teaching them the story of Noah, and during a question and answer time we were able to really interact with the kids on a more personal level. The answers that they gave were so insightful, it really made me appreciate what they are doing here for these kids. Well, now that I've written a novel, time to pass the torch.
~Julia
P.S. They have albino pigeons here!!!!

Today was a great day of teaching - 7th and 5th grade English and 7th grade Bible. We have formed excellent relationships with most all our students and they love having us teach them. And we love teaching them! This whole experience has been swell indeed - the Hungarians have an incredible faith and testimony which they are always ready to share with us. This afternoon we spent a lovelz afternoon in Kaposvar. The highlight of the bus trip was when Mrs. Davison announced to the bus, "Today I saw a flock of deer!" The night was finished with fellowship and dinner at Oti's house. I played by viola and Silas played Nimrod's cello. Looking forward to another exciting and fun day of teaching tomorrow! Good night all
~Anna
